The Alpha Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Sorority condemns the unconstitutional targeting, detention, and deportation of United States residents. Recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions have generated widespread fear through violence, particularly within immigrant communities, and raise serious concerns about due process and the protection of fundamental rights.
The suppression of lawful activity, peaceful protest, and political expression runs directly counter to the First Amendment. All people have the right to express diverse viewpoints without fear of discrimination, surveillance, detention, or deportation.
We believe that violations of due process and the criminalization of dissent are fundamentally incompatible with democratic governance and upholding human rights. Delta Phi Epsilon remains committed to fostering an informed, supportive, and inclusive community. We stand in solidarity with those impacted, and encourage our members to stay informed, know their rights, and utilize available resources.
We encourage our community members to learn more and seek resources through local and national organizations. These include but are not limited to Georgetown’s Undocumented Student Services (undocuhoyas@georgetown.edu), Hoyas for Immigrant Rights, the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network, and the ACLU. To our sisters and alumni, we hope that DPE can be a community where you always feel safe and welcome.
